This one is weirder than the female co-worker that likes to joke about beating me up..
A few months ago a photographer friend in California emailed me some of his photos and asked my opinion. He does the gallery circuit and has had some of his work featured in national magazines and papers. Alot of the pics were BDSM themed. He also made some references to S/M since then. I'm now thinking a mutual friend, who knows I do play, told him. The person I told I gave only minimal, general information, and have been friends since we were 13 and he is discreet so I can trust him.
Well mutual friend is here on business and we met up for dinner last night. While we were catching up I asked hime if he told the photog about me. Sure enough he did but it was very little. The he says the photog wants to do a photo essay of me in a session as a project. Whoa! I did an immediate double take and almost knock my drink over. "Are you for real?" I am thinking..
I emailed the photog about this when I got home. A short time later he responds with no worries about keeping things private, and that he really is serious shooting me in a sessin when I am in California. He even says we can use masks for privacy.
Gotta think about this one but I most likely won't do it out of discretion. I imagine that there would probably be some legal issues here, not to mention 2257. And how would the media treat it; fairly or mock it like the NY Post (with that paper's coverage of the Nutcracker accident). Then there is is thing of me being able to relazx and get "in the zone" with an audience snapping pics; this would be different than doing a double session.
Weird, eh?...

Why your concern about 2257? Any photog worth a darn gets a signed model release and a scan of your licenses before shooting, so that's a total non issue, assuming you are all over 18.
If he's going to let you wear a mask, well heck... cover any tats or distinguishing traits and have fun. It's not like you are running for office... are ya?

You're being a drama queen. i agree that being discreet is important, but you've got a mask for heavens sake.

Okay.. I will interrupt and be an even bigger “drama queen”.
2257 is wayyyyy different than a typical models release!
Traditional model’s releases are usually kept in a locked file cabinet... in which a subpoena would be needed to look at it if the photographer was not willing to volunteer access to it.
2257 is ALL you contact info and your face photographed with you ID in it next to your smile and all the Dr. Lic info in plain print… ready for ID thieves and stalkers…and it is put on public display. The location of the file is printed on the websites and in the publication of where the photos are. To be in compliance with 2257 the photographer and the distributor need to display this info in a office in which LE and the public can have access at a minimum of 40 hours per week.
2257 was designed to scare off models and photographers from doing porn by preventing minors from being adult porn models. But as you see the old system back when we had a Constitution did protected minors from abuse …only it would have taken probable cause and LE to examine the documents and investigate while still protecting privacy laws. Under 2257 the Feds just show up and clean out your files and return them as they see fit. This is a dramatic show for your neighbors too. Many many cases of that have been reported… and funny thing with all the FBI raids and stuff not one single pornographer used a minor as a model. Guess kiddie porn is not the
Aside from that.. I am a little creeped out that this vanilla guy wants to not only shoot you in a private setting that is grey in terms of the law but also to profit from your experience… is he paying you? Have you spoken to a lawyer about this? Did he gossip about your interest to others you have no control over? Who is the one liable for the felony solicitation charge or the misdemeanor prostitution charge in this documented scene of a real pro session?

i've signed 2257s at 7 different web sites, and none of them do the above. Everything is filed away neatly in a secure cabinet waiting for the Feds to show up.
>>> 2257 is ALL you contact info and your face photographed with you ID in it next to your smile and all the Dr. Lic info in plain print… ready for ID thieves and stalkers…and it is put on public display. To put all that info one a public web site, the Feds first have to come into the establishment, demand the 2257 info which you must submit, and then post it on a web site. Still Draconian, but i know many people in the industry, and know of no one that this has happened to. Nonetheless, if the Feds publish this info on a web site, the model would have to be a minor. Authorities just simply would NOT put a minors picture on display. They would face a lawsuit. On the other hand, if the records on display were of someone who was complying with 2257 (not a minor), then they would also be opening themselves up to a lawsuit.
Regardless, maybe you are correct. To clear this up, can you give a link to the web site that is publicly displaying all this 2257 info?
